Ask Vector Prime A Question Archives
August 4th, 2005

It is great to see so many questions ... no. No, actually, it isn't. I am a very busy individual, keeping all of time safe and fighting Decepticons, some of whom are larger than me and all of whom want me dead. I'm the asocial one. They should have given this job to someone who likes people and hasn't got enough to do. Someone like Hot Shot. But, no, someone said, "Hey, let's hand the job to the old guy," so here I am. At least the Insecticons do the real work. I just answer questions.

For some reason, you whippersnappers keep asking about me. I'd like to just say, "None of your business," but I get kicked in the shins by Insecticons when I do. Anyway, just to shut you up:

My name is Vector Prime and I'm old enough to know better, but too old to escape from young people who think I should answer their questions. I was created so long ago that there are no records and I can just make up something and none of you will know the difference. I could claim to be Prima and the Liege Maximo's love-child and even Furman himself couldn't prove me wrong. I'm from Cybertron and lately I've been stuck with the task of babysitting Primus' creations. I'm working with the Autobots because if Megatron wins, the universe is going to be sucked into a black hole, and then where would I sit? My other form is a type of Cybertronian spaceship that could be kindly described as 'vintage'. I have the ability to send myself or others through time and space. Sometimes when I'm bored, I send the Insecticons to the moon.

To start things off, here are the answers I wanted to give at the official site, but they wouldn't let me.

Q: Who guards the Cyber Planet Key on Earth?
A: Shrapnel. The little pest ate it. I suppose it's as safe in his stomach as anywhere.

Q: How many episodes of Transformers Cybertron will there be?
A: Every time I try to count them, Wayward complains that the first three or four never aired in Canada and distracts me.

Q: Is Override from the Speed Planet a girl?
A: Let's look at the tech specs:

Long-time champion and leader of the Speed Planet, Override is always ready for a race. Acceleration is her only ideal, but she respects anyone with the guts to challenge her. She's faced and beaten thousands of upstart speedsters in her time. Though at first suspicious of the intentions Hot Shot and the Autobots have for her world's Cyber Planet Key, Override is only too glad to help once she realises what's at stake.

I'm not up on Earthling customs, but I'm pretty sure all those 'she's and 'hers' mean that Override is female. Thunderblast, on the other hand, is a guy in drag.

Q: Are you related to Optimus Prime?
A: The way they're trying to stuff me into G1 continuity, I'm probably his grandfather. Has it occured to anyone that I might be from the future and just live in the past?

Q: What is your favorite planet?
A: The Planet of Open-Minded Supermodels.

Q: Do you sleep?
A: Not if there are any Insecticons around. Last time I tried, I woke up with "For a good time, call Chopshop" scrawled across my wing.

Q: Do you know Alpha Trion?
A: He, Xaaron, and I used to go bowling on Saturday nights.
