Cybertron Bios: Velocitron

BLURR
Autobot
STR:7 INT:8 SPD:9 END:7 RNK:7 CRG:9 FPR:7 SKL:9

A former race champion, Blurr retired years ago and has since made a career coaching younger speedsters in the subtleties of racing. He is a tough teacher, with a gruff personality that often comes across as bad-tempered to those who don't know him. Long-time students of his know, however, that his demanding temperament hides a gentle spark. He is tough on those who come to him for training because he takes their successes and failures personally, and he requires no less of his students - and himself - than their best.

This toy is actually an homage to the Generation One super-speedy Transformer Blurr. Blurr was introduced in 1986 in the original theatrical release of Transformers: The Movie and served under the command of Ultra Magnus and later Rodimus Prime. Blurr is the fastest Autobot known and was known for talking too fast for anyone to even understand what he was saying. Blurr also was in almost every episode of the Generation One TV series season three, and this is his first reincarnation into a modern Transformers toy line!

( Blurr had a completely different bio on Hasbro's website than what was on his packaging. It was as follows: )

Blurr is a hardened veteran of the War for Energon and the Armada Wars, and not about to abandon his home planet of Cybertron in its time of greatest danger. As the other inhabitants of Cybertron fled to Earth, he stayed behind, vowing to defend his home planet in the absence of Optimus Prime and the Autobots. Little did he know that others with far more nefarious plans in mind also stayed behind. Buzzsaw, a dangerous rogue from the Decepticon old guard intends to hoard as much of the planet's energon as he can for himself, hoping to gain enough power to destroy the Autobots upon their return!

BRAKEDOWN
Autobot
STR:5 INT:8.5 SPD:6.5 END:7 RNK:5 CRG:6 FPR:4.5 SKL:9

An old racer on his last lap, Brakedown was the fastest around in his day. He knows every inch of track on the Speed Planet, and while his systems can't keep up with the supercharged speed of younger robots, this old speed demon's still got one or two tricks up his sleeve. With his pipes rusting through and his suspension grown brittle with age, he's got to rely on Clocker, to whom he's passed his knowledge of the Great Race.

Brakedown is one of the oldest Transformers on Velocitron. He has been around almost since the first Cybertronian settlers arrived on Speed Planet carrying the Cyber Planet Key. This veteran racer was the Transformer that trained Override for her races when she was first brought on line. It was Brakedown that made sure she became leader of Velocitron - the Speed Planet! In fact, Brakedown has been training and racing with the fastest and brightest speed stars of Velocitron for close to a million years!

BRAKEDOWN GTS
Autobot
STR:5 INT:8.5 SPD:9.5 END:8 RNK:5 CRG:6 FPR:4.5 SKL:9

It's long been an accepted piece of wisdom on Velocitron that you can't teach an old racer new tricks, but that was before the Autobots came to the Speed Planet. With the help of Coby and the intelligent application of some Earth technology, including dual superchargers, inter-cooled Energon exhaust ports and a diamond-sharp edge to his racing sabre, Brakedown is feeling a thousand years younger. Yes sir, this old speed demon is back on the track!

With his new lease on life, Brakedown has decided to take up some old habits as well. When he was a younger 'bot on Velocitron, he used to repair the massive road repair automatons that forever roamed the millions of highways on his home planet. It would be a challenge to race up, keep speed with them and repair them as they moved across the planet - for those repair-bots can never stop! It takes keen mind, nimble fingers and super-charged engines to make Velocitron keep on ticking - and Brakedown is just the 'bot for the job.

CLOCKER
Autobot
STR:4 INT:7.5 SPD:7.5 END:9 RNK:4 CRG:6.5 FPR:4 SKL:8.5

A young speedster with nerves of steel and technique to spare. Quick-thinking, clever and courageous, his size prevents him from presenting a real challenge on the track. He races out of a sense of duty to his mentor Brakedown, and he knows every bit of road on the Speed Planet like the back of his hand. It's his knowledge of the Great Race that gives Hot Shot the edge he needs.

Clocker has a racetrack tactic that he's been secretly practicing. While driving at top speed, he hits the Energon-overdrive button while going into sixth gear. This manoeuvre usually sends Clocker flying into turns at ridiculous speeds! The only bad thing is that Clocker has yet to master this manoeuvre perfectly, so not only does he fly into first place, but also he usually flies right off the road!

CRUMPLEZONE
Decepticon
STR:8 INT:3.5 SPD:9 END:9 RNK:4 CRG:9 FPR:9 SKL:7

Trusting but dumb, Crumplezone is often drawn into serving as the muscle to back up the paranoid plotting of his partner Ransack. Huge, powerful, and superfast, Crumplezone is sometimes surprised by sudden turns. Not that it matters - he's the biggest guy on the Speed Planet, and crashing straight ahead through whatever gets in his way is his specialty. Twin-turbine ramjets can propel him at nearly the speed of sound, and selective thrust reversal allows him to fire hypersonic, high-explosive slugs nearly twelve miles.

Crumplezone is a massive Transformer. He loves to blast things, loves to crush things and loves to race as fast as he can all day long and all night long. But what he really loves is hanging out and causing all sorts of trouble with his best buddy Ransack! From putting grease on Override's wheels to giving Clocker an atomic Speed Planet wedgie, Crumplezone is a punk that loves to cause trouble wherever he goes!

DARK CRUMPLEZONE
Decepticon
STR:9 INT:3 SPD:9 END:8 RNK:5 CRG:9 FPR:9 SKL:7

With dark power coursing through his circuitry, his might in battle is nearly unmatched, but Dark Crumplezone is just as dumb as ever. Being dead gave him a mean streak a mile wide, and getting put back together by the otherworldly power of Galvatron gave him the weaponry he needed. What he can't smash through, he knocks down, and what he can't knock down, he pulverizes with his forward plasma ejector cannons. He's too dumb to be a real threat to the Autobots, but Galvatron is content to just set him loose on the battlefield and see what he can blast before the Autobots shut him down.

After being eaten alive by Scrapmetal, almost having your spark extinguished and then being brought back online by the ghost of Megatron - that might do something to a 'bot's internal processors! Crumplezone was reborn bigger and badder than ever - and nothing was going to stand in his way. Little does anyone know, but when Crumplezone was reborn so was his intellect! Yes! Instead of having the IQ of a seven year old boy, he now has the IQ of a fifteen year old boy! With all of this new brain power, Crumplezone has been able to concoct all sorts of new and devious ways of blowing up the Autobots. Learning is the best, kids!

DIRT BOSS
Decepticon
STR:7.5 INT:6 SPD:7 END:8 RNK:5 CRG:8 FPR:6.5 SKL:6

A wild outlaw, rugged villain of the rough backwaters of the Speed Planet; those who are fooled by the sheer size of Dirt Boss into thinking he's slow are soon left choking on his exhaust. He lives to pound his opponents into the dust and leave them spinning their wheels - that's if he decides to leave the wheels attached. Hot Shot is certain to learn some tough lessons from him.

As one of the citizens of Speed Planet, Dirt Boss is known for two things, and two things only - one is being the meanest, rudest and crankiest driver on the road and the other is that he loves to drive, drive and oh yeah, drive some more! It's hard to believe, but like most folks on Speed Planet, Dirt Boss loves to stay in vehicle mode! Why walk when you can drive - but watch out! If you cross Dirt Boss on the road, watch your tail lights!

Delivered to the Speed Planet by the same space-time anomaly that transported and nearly destroyed his friend Mirage, Downshift was almost immediately captured by Dirt Boss and his gang of harriers and outlaws. Using information given to him by Megatron, Dirt Boss was able to force Downshift to link with him, granting him unheard of power and speed. Lacking the imagination for a true power play, Dirt Boss used his newfound might to pillage his way through the Speed Planet's equatorial cities until Override and Mirage appeared to challenge him as a final showdown in an attempt to rescue his Minicon slave.

( If you thought having Deluxe Thunderblast and Minicon Thunderblast in the same line was bad, you never saw the Minicon pack-ins. Since it was the Skyboom Minicons put in, there ended up being Deluxe Dirt Boss and Minicon Dirt Boss in the same story. )

EXCELLION
Autobot
STR:6 INT:7 SPD:8.5 END:8 RNK:6.5 CRG:9 FPR:7 SKL:9

An outsider among the Autobots because of his brooding attitude, Excellion is one of the very few Autobot warriors who the Decepticons think of with any respect, but that respect is earned. Excellion has made an art of speed and stealth, moving back and forth across enemy lines as if he were invisible. More than once, he has retrieved vital information from within a Decepticon stronghold, or quickly and quietly disposed of a particularly annoying enemy agent.

As a repaint of Hot Shot, this name is far more fitting than one would actually believe. In the Japanese version of Transformers: Cybertron - entitled Transformers: Galaxy Force - Hot Shot is actually called Excellion! In the past for Transformers: Armada and Transformers: Energon, there have been re-painted versions of Hot Shot in these exact colours as well. This colour scheme is an homage to the 1986 Generation One Transformer Autobot cavalier Hot Rod - a futuristic roadster.

HOT SHOT
Autobot
STR:8 INT:8 SPD:8.5 END:8 RNK:8 CRG:9 FPR:8 SKL:9

A natural leader with a lot yet to learn, Hot Shot often races straight into danger at top speed. He takes great pride in the fact that he's the fastest Autobot there is, but it isn't until he gets to the Speed Planet that he learns the true meaning of velocity. Faced by the almost unbeatable Override, Hot Shot needs to learn a whole new way of thinking about acceleration before he can win the Great Race.

Talk about fast! Until he went to Speed Planet, Hot Shot was the fastest car on Cybertron. He was so fast that if he revved his engine and gunned it, he could drive up the side of a building practically defying gravity!

Hot Shot thought he'd seen heaven the first time he laid eyes on the Speed Planet, but that was before he saw the private course Override had built for herself. Perfect, banking turns sweep the horizon, and dive, curving into wooded vales ( with the trees protected against sonic booms by transparent deflector shields; ) sun-dappled blacktop, designed by the best scientists of Speed Planet for ideal traction on turns and low friction on straight-aways. He knows he's come here for a race, but winning doesn't even matter to him, as long as he's free to open his throttle and cruise.

Hot Shot always thought he was the fastest, most skilled racer in the universe, until he got to the Speed Planet. But he never even suspected the blistering speed of which he was capable of until Optimus Prime teamed him up with Mirage. Brought to the Speed Planet under the protection of Hot Shot, Mirage was originally badly homesick for his compatriots Downshift and Dirt Boss, until he saw the perfect raceways of this new planet. Now, the two have formed a fast friendship and a nearly unbeatable racing team.

OVERRIDE
Autobot
STR:6.5 INT:7.5 SPD:9.5 END:7.5 RNK:9 CRG:8 FPR:5 SKL:8.5

Long-time champion and leader of the Speed Planet, Override is always ready for a race. Acceleration is her only ideal, but she respects anyone with the guts to challenge her. She's faced and beaten thousands of upstart speedsters in her time. Though at first suspicious of the intentions Hot Shot and the Autobots have for her world's Cyber Planet Key, Override is only too glad to help once she realises what's at stake.

It took a long time for Override to claim the title of Leader of the Speed Planet. When the Cybertronian explorers first landed on what would become Speed Planet, races were held to see who would be leader. Override pretended to be a boy to enter the race and the entire planet was stunned when she won the race and revealed that she was a tough-as-nails female race car!

As leader of the Speed Planet, Override raced mostly on public tracks - roads owned and used by every Speed Planet citizen. But she also has a private refuge, a network of tracks roughly the size of Texas, off limits to the rest of the planet. It is on these roads she races against only her toughest opponent - herself. Now, humbled by her defeat by Hot Shot, and his grace in victory, she has invited her new Autobot ally onto her private roads for a secluded race to truly determine who is the fastest in the galaxy.

Mirage, leader of the Minicon Race Team, was blasted during a battle into a rip in space-time in his own dimension created by the long-range effects of the anomaly black hole near Cybertron. He was found by Override some time later, injured and close to stasis lock. Recognising the potential of the diminutive speedster, the Speed Planet leader took him in and repaired him. Mirage soon became a willing partner to Override, helping her win race after race. Now, the pair has discovered that Downshift, a teammate of Mirage, has been captured and enslaved by Dirt Boss. They will stop at nothing to bring the cruel outlaw down and rescue Downshift.

OVERRIDE GTS
Autobot
STR:7 INT:8 SPD:?? END:8.5 RNK:9 CRG:7 FPR:5.5 SKL:8.5

Override channelled her frustration at being beaten by both Megatron and Hot Shot into the search for the Planet Keys. Tempered by a race for something greater than a mere trophy, she returns to the Speed Planet a new leader. She has upgraded her systems with components based on the technology of both Earth and Cybertron. With her body thus enhanced, she has come back to the Speed Planet to reclaim her place as leader so that she may rule with compassion and justice from the Autobots.

The previous Cyber Planet Key unlockable content for Override was a little joke regarding the characters origins. In the original idea behind Cybertron ( or "Galaxy Force" as it's called in Japan, ) Override was designed to be a boy character! In fact, in Japan, the Override character remained a boy in animation. That's why in certain scenes with the human Lori, Override blushes. He's embarrassed by Lori's comments! For the Cybertron animation, though, Hasbro decided to turn Override into a powerful and aspirational female warrior.

RANSACK
Decepticon
STR:5 INT:7 SPD:8.5 END:8 RNK:4 CRG:3.5 FPR:5 SKL:5.5

Skittish and suspicious, Ransack is a loudmouth bully, always ready to intimidate others into giving him what he wants, but only when his big partner Crumplezone is around. With the energy of the Speed Planet flowing through his circuitry, everything about him is fast - sometimes too fast. Unable to stop thinking or moving, his hyperactive mind tends to draw connections between unconnected things, and he sees conspiracy everywhere.

Ransack is one half of the dastardly duo of Ransack and Crumplezone. What most citizens of the Speed Planet don't know about Ransack is that he secretly has a crush on Speed Planet leader Override! He's tried to ask her out at least five hundred times, but every time he gets the nerve up to ask her, he blows a gasket!

RANSACK GTS
Decepticon
STR:5 INT:7 SPD:9 END:8 RNK:4 CRG:4 FPR:5 SKL:8

The idea behind the new paint job is that Ransack GTS is supposed to be a spy. Slip in, do some sabotage, and slip out again. That was the idea anyway. But the pressure is too intense for someone as twitchy as Ransack. He's used to racing headlong into trouble, and then talking his way back out. He may be geared for stealth, but his over-stocked vocal processor has Galvatron considering just removing it entirely.

When not chasing down Override with his partner in crime, Crumplezone, Ransack likes to take his wise-cracking humour to the stage and perform Cybertronian stand-up comedy! He's been practicing his bits and routines for days, and usually he ends up with energon tomatoes to the face after his routine, but that's not stopping Ransack. He's determined to get on "Velocitron Idol" where he can showcase his 'talent' and maybe give up the whole fighting thing for a life of comedy.

SPIRAL
STR:7 INT:8 SPD:9 END:6 RNK:4.5 CRG:6 FPR:5 SKL:8

The talent of the members of the Street Speed Minicon Team for working in tandem while racing at top speed across a battlefield or crowded city freeway has made them invaluable as spies and scouts for the Autobots. All three are in love with racing, and they sometimes disappear for weeks to compete in the Speed Planet rally circuit.

SWERVE
Autobot
STR:5 INT:6.5 SPD:7.5 END:9 RNK:3.5 CRG:6.5 FPR:5 SKL:6

Impatient and short-tempered, Swerve is a robot whose processors run so hot he was forced to install a backup exhaust system just to compensate for the excess heat. After his suspension from the official races for poor sportsmanship, he found himself in the seedy underground oil-sport racing circuit. There, running races in which the last robot standing is declared victor, he's finally found an outlet for his temper, and a use for his lightning-fast reflexes and sharp-shooting skills.

The form that Swerve has now is actually his sixteenth body! He started in a form that was close to the size of Crumplezone - it was heavily armoured and super slow. With his mega-impatient personality driving him ever faster and harder on the track, he began to bootleg and manufacture body parts to streamline his own form. Finally, he achieved a perfect balance between exhaust spitting speed and plasma blasting firepower. It also doesn't hurt for any body-moddin' bot that in the crash and bash races in the bowels of Velocitron there is a never-ending supply of decimated body parts too ...
