Cybertron Bios: Jungle Planet

BACKSTOP
Autobot
STR:8 INT:6.5 SPD:5.5 END:7 RNK:5 CRG:9 FPR:7 SKL:6

Once the most feared and powerful warrior on the Jungle Planet, Backstop was long ago beaten and cast out by Scourge. Forced to live among weaker beasts, he came to value the equality of all creatures above all else, and now fights against Scourge with the other Jungle Planet rebels. He hates the cruel dictator, and dreams often of the day on which he will finally throw down and destroy the evil, three-headed dragon-bot.

Backstop is an ancient and wise master of martial arts. He may not look like it due to his stocky size and rhinoceros alt-mode, but deep within this thick-skinned ‘bot lies the beating heart of a master warrior. At one time he was just like Scourge and Leobreaker - quick to anger, full of rage and unable to keep his temper in check. He went on a journey as a young Transformer to find the meaning of life and saw the galaxy - he learned the secrets of martial arts and the teachings of the wise from ancient masters like Banzai-Tron and Bludgeon ... upon his return to Jungle Planet, he was a changed 'bot. He realised that fighting may be important, but it is what you fight for that makes you a strong warrior.

BRIMSTONE
Decepticon
STR:5 INT:5 SPD:9.5 END:10 RNK:6 CRG:9 FPR:6 SKL:8

Brimstone likes the simple things - food, flying, trashing Autobots. He leaves stuff like thinking, planning and noticing what's going on in the world around him to his pal Undermine, which is just as well because that tiny, little head of his contains a badly undersized CPU. Still, being dumb doesn't make Brimstone any less dangerous. In flight, he is totally silent, and his diamond-edged vanadium wing blades can pierce even the toughest armour.

Brimstone and Undermine are, when not being pushed around by Scourge and bullying all the other inhabitants of Jungle Planet, insane Praxus Fold Em' data card players! At night in the Jungle Temple, the two of them can be found playing this addictive chip and card game for Energon goodies and swapping chores. At one time, Brimstone had Undermine cleaning all the waste depositories with his tail until he lost it all on a bad hand!

CRYO SCOURGE
Decepticon
STR:9 INT:8.5 SPD:7 END:8 RNK:8.5 CRG:10 FPR:9 SKL:7.5

Long exposure to the freezing waste of deep space has irreversibly mutated Scourge. No longer a flame-spewing monster consumed by his passions, he is now a creature of ice and cold. Calculating, cruel, and without mercy, he radiates a freezing aura that causes circuitry to short out, and renders Autobot alloys brittle and easily shattered. His breath, once a raging firestorm, is now a creeping cold that sneaks into joints and mechanisms, destroying them from within. The blade of is axe is a razor-sharp shard of supercooled hydrogen ice that leaves a deadly numbness wherever it strikes.

This colour for a dragon is not a new thing for Hasbro! During the Beast Wars era, there was a massive Megatron figure that turned into a ferocious red dragon. Two years later that figure was painted into an ice dragon and released as Cryotek! As an added bonus, the name Cryotek is from an old Hasbro toy line called The Visionaries from 1987!

DARK SCORPONOK
Decepticon
STR:9 INT:10 SPD:7 END:?? RNK:?? CRG:10 FPR:8.5 SKL:7

Awesomely powerful and incredibly intelligent, Dark Scorponok was once widely feared by Decepticons and Autobots alike, until his chassis was destroyed by Megatron. His mind and memory shattered, only partially operational and powered by the might of Unicron - some of which he managed to absorb - he hungers for a return to full functionality. Even in his partially destroyed state, his mech-venom sting and super-strong claws are a threat to all but the most powerful beings, and his return heralds a new era of fear for all who stand in his way.

Dark Scorponok is a deadly and dangerous Transformer that is almost impossible to destroy. The reason being is that he's already dead! After his spark was partly extinguished during the Energon Battles, Scorponok vowed vengeance on both the Autobots and the Decepticons. Using the remaining powers of his spark and channelling some of Unicron's dark powers, Dark Scorponok traveled through the galaxy, searching for a way to revive his shattered and broken soul. He eventually ended up on the Jungle Planet where his monstrous and bug-like scorpion mode was put to use as a powerhouse bodyguard by the ruthless Scourge!

LEOBREAKER
Autobot
STR:8 INT:8.5 SPD:7 END:7 RNK:9 CRG:9 FPR:8 SKL:8

After learning some tough lessons at the ruthless hands of the Jungle Planet's dictator Scourge, Overhaul found greater strength in himself than he thought possible and morphed into the mighty Leobreaker! His new lion mode is a nearly unstoppable hunter, perfectly adapted to life and battle on the Jungle Planet. Teamed up with the Jungle Planet rebels, he's determined to bring the fight to the evil dragon-bot and his Decepticon cronies in a final battle for freedom and the Jungle Planet Key!

When Leobreaker came back to Earth after living on jungle Planet he learned about sports and Leobreaker got the great idea of competition by skill rather than fighting. He tried to get his Autobot buddies to form a Cybertronian softball team - and he even made shirts, caps and over-sized bats and balls! One day, his teammates Snarl and Backstop found his new equipment and the two beasts used the new bats to sharpen their claws and horns, and then they used the over-sized softballs for target practice!

MEGATRON (Tyrannosaurus)
Decepticon
STR:10 INT:10 SPD:10 END:9.5 RNK:10 CRG:10 FPR:10 SKL:10

Though he was initially frustrated by the mutation of his body caused by the chaotic influence of the Jungle Planet Key, Megatron has come to enjoy the terror of the residents of the Jungle Planet at his powerful jaws and razor sharp teeth, and the shake of the ground at his every step. Now, he crashes through the jungle, swatting giant trees aside with his powerful tail, blazing a path of destruction so complete that Optimus Prime can't help but notice. He can't wait to feel the Autobot leader struggling in his crushing jaws.

Hasbro is reaching back through time - ten years back in fact - for the inspiration for this figure! Ten years ago, Beast Wars was born! An all-new telling of the Transformers mythology using animals and dinosaurs as alt-modes, replacing cars, jets, and tanks. In this story, Megatron - a ruthless criminal - scans a prehistoric tyrannosaurus and begins anew his struggle against the heroic Maximals, led by Optimus Primal. This all-new figure is a ten-year anniversary tribute to that classic Beast Wars Story!

NEMESIS BREAKER
Decepticon
STR:8.5 INT:7.5 SPD:8 END:7 RNK:6 CRG:9 FPR:6.5 SKL:7

A warrior devoted without question to Megatron and the Decepticons, Nemesis Breaker is without doubt, without pity; his heart is warmed only by the fire of battle. With a body design based on that of Leobreaker, he is the equal of that Autobot hero in every way, but with all sense of honour stripped away. He is a fantastically skilled fighter with the unfortunate talent of finding and making use of the weaknesses of almost any opponent.

Nemesis Breaker is a warrior without a soul or spark. This construct of dark energies formed through Galvatron's manipulation of the Armour of Unicron and the dark heart of Leobreaker is a merciless and single-minded hunter and killer. Nemesis Breaker serves one purpose and one purpose only - the will of Galvatron and the destruction of the Autobots.

OPTIMUS PRIME (Gorilla)
Autobot
STR:10 INT:10 SPD:9 END:10 RNK:10 CRG:10 FPR:10 SKL:10

Temporarily mutated by the wild energies of the Jungle Planet Cyber Planet Key, Optimus Prime continues his battle to defend the universe from Megatron among the giant trees of the Jungle Planet's rainforest. Swinging from tree to tree, he moves silently through the dim half-light of the dense mid-canopy foliage. he knows that his enemy lurks somewhat in the humid valleys of his chaotic world, and will stop at nothing to find Megatron and stop him once and for all.

There is a legacy of action figure greatness that goes back ten years attached to this figure of Optimus Primal. Ten years ago, Kenner ( which was owned by Hasbro ) reinvented the Transformers brand as Beast Wars! The story of Beast Wars tells the tale of futuristic descendants of the Autobots and Decepticons, now called Maximals and Predacons, and the continuing struggle for Cybertron. In this series, the ever-popular Optimus Prime was re-dubbed Optimus Primal and instead of a truck, he turned into a gorilla! This figure is a ten-year anniversary tribute to that classic story.

OVERHAUL
Autobot
STR:6 INT:5 SPD:4.5 END:8 RNK:4 CRG:8 FPR:6 SKL:7

One tough Autobot, Overhaul has never thought much of intellectual pursuits. His solution to a complex problem is generally to stomp on it until it gets simple or stops being a problem. He's never felt that he's had the respect his strength deserves from the other Autobots, but now that he's on the Jungle Planet - where might makes right - he feels right at home.

In the original design stage for Transformers: Cybertron, Overhaul was going to be called "Trailbreaker", a popular name from the 1980's. This was to match up with his later upgrade to "Leobreaker" - a lion on the Jungle Planet. His name was changed to Overhaul, but the lion's name stayed the same! A lion would sound kinda funny with the name "Leohaul", right?

REPUGNUS
Autobot
STR:7 INT:8 SPD:6 END:10 RNK:8 CRG:8 FPR:6 SKL:9

Among the very few places on the Jungle Planet not firmly under the control of Scourge are the fetid swamps in the valleys at the foot of the Steel Shard Mountains. Here, Repugnus rules. His subjects rejoice in the stinking slime they call home. He protects their freedom fiercely, using his intimate knowledge of the swamps to isolate and destroy and invaders. So dedicated is he to freedom that he even exiled his own brother - Undermine, for being in league with Scourge.

As with some of the other Transformers in the Cybertron toy line, this character shares it's name and colour scheme with a character from the original 1987 Generation One Transformers toy line. In his original incarnation, he was what was referred to as a "Monsterbot" and he was a huge, bug-like creature. Also, in his original form, Repugnus was an Autobot!

SCOURGE
Decepticon
STR:9 INT:8.5 SPD:7 END:8 RNK:8.5 CRG:10 FPR:9 SKL:7.5

Scourge is the brutal and awesomely powerful ruler of the Jungle Planet. He views any display of kindness, compassion, or generosity as weakness, and he hates weakness. Cold, distant, and prone to violent rage against those he views as lesser creatures, he holds most of the Jungle Planet firmly in his transmetal claw. Those defying him are likely to experience the searing heat of his stellar plasma breath, or the bite of his axe as their final sensation before their spark is extinguished. Overhaul, Snarl, and the Jungle Planet rebels will find him to be the most powerful foe they have ever faced.

In Japan, all the planet leaders have a similar name. The Japanese leader Transformers all have the same "last name" and that name is "Convoy". So, Optimus prime in Japan is called Galaxy Convoy! Pretty cool, right? Well, Scourge, since he's a dragon, is named Flame Convoy.

SNARL
Autobot
STR:8 INT:7 SPD:8.5 END:7.5 RNK:7 CRG:9 FPR:7.5 SKL:9

Snarl is master of the darkest, most wild places on the Jungle Planet, and it is through his cunning that the Jungle Planet rebels have survived long enough to team up with their new Autobot allies. He is a 'bot of few words, preferring constant action to hiding and resting. Despite this, he is a clever fighter and a careful planner, never putting his soldiers at unnecessary risk, and never leaving a 'bot behind to be tortured by his sworn enemy Scourge.

If Scourge is the 'dark side' of Jungle Planet, than Snarl is definitely the 'light side'. Trained by Backstop to respect life, use force only when needed and to be one with nature, Snarl is a peaceful and thoughtful warrior. If he is not looking out for Scourge and one of his tantrums, Snarl can be found racing through the darkest woods of Jungle Planet - observing the trees and the light pouring through the leaves. He usually makes his way in the dead of night to his favourite spot - the top of Lookout Mountain. This is where he meditates, wonders about what is beyond his own home and of course, where he howls at the moon.

UNDERMINE
Decepticon
STR:6.5 INT:5 SPD:6.5 END:8 RNK:4 CRG:8 FPR:6 SKL:9

Cruel and predatory Undermine serves as a scout and spy for Scourge, unquestioned ruler of the Jungle Planet. He enjoys hunting, and will often toy with his prey before moving in to rip out its power source with his powerful fangs. Silent, cunning and all but impossible to sneak up on, Undermine is possibly the greatest hunter the universe has ever seen. The only reason you haven't heard about him before now is that none of his prey have survived long enough to talk about it.

Undermine is just like what his name means! He is sneaky, dirty, and foul! He would sell his own Grand-Transformer-Spark to make a dollar! In fact, when Scourge had just taken over as leader of Jungle Planet, Undermine did something that truly earned him his name! Scourge had a bodyguard-bot named Shrapnel. Shrapnel was a reliable ‘bot and never once said anything bad about any other Transformer. Well, Undermine took a mini-recording device and faked a message of Shrapnel telling Scourge he was a smoke-ring blowing sissy! Well, when Scourge heard that he was furious! Soon enough, Shrapnel was sent packing, and Undermine was placed as Scourge's new bodyguard. What a rotten guy!

WRECKLOOSE
Decepticon
STR:6.5 INT:5.5 SPD:7 END:8 RNK:4.5 CRG:8 FPR:5.5 SKL:8.5

An eager fighter for Scourge, Wreckloose throws himself wholeheartedly into battle. He rarely carries a ranged weapon, preferring to use his bladed shield in close combat. Able to blend in almost perfectly with the Jungle Planet underbrush and move silently through even the densest vegetation, he will wait in hiding for days just to ambush a challenging opponent.

Wreckloose, much like everyone else on Scourge's team is a dirty fighter. He will set up elaborate traps and booby traps within the forests to capture his prey. Once while on patrol, he got word that some of Snarl's friends from the other side of the Jungle Planet were going on an expedition into the deepest reaches of the forests. Wreckloose spent days wiring up a particular section of the jungle with highly corrosive Technarachnid spider webbing. As the Transformers walked into the trap, Wreckloose moved in for the final blow. The Transformers never knew what hit them ...
