Overview

When Sayaka Kenmura opens a mysterious package left on her doorstep, she unleashes the Destron commander Megatron on her apartment complex. She and her best friend Ryukkun accidentally awaken Optimus Prime to combat him, and are enlisted in his quest to rescue his squadmates from captivity in the data clusters in Megatron's possession. With their help and that of Jimmy, the American tech-head, Optimus Prime manages to reawaken Pulsar and get a hold of more data clusters while fighting off the recurrent attacks of Megatron and his newly-reawakened Destrons, Widowmaker and Crane. After Sayaka wins consoles to use as bodies for Blaster and Soundwave, Megatron exploits their tendency to bicker to nearly cost the Cybertrons their lives, then convinces Jimmy to give him the remaining data clusters. With the addition of Reflector and Armory, his team is finally at full strength, and Megatron splits up the Cybertron team but loses the last Cybertron data cluster and Jimmy reawakens Windfall to complete the Cybertron team. The Destrons are chased into traffic and knocked into the sky, and Optimus Prime defeats Megatron in single combat, thus ending the Destrons' threat to Earth …

Characters

Name: Sayaka Kenmura
Species: Human
Function: None
Altmode: None
A sensible, down-to-earth ten-year-old, Sayaka is the only child of the technophobic Kenmura family, who has found a home in the technologically-oriented apartment complex Sunset Hill. She depends on her best friend Ryukkun for her video game fix, but constantly worries about what her parents will think of her. Sayaka has a level head and a good heart, but often has very little confidence in herself.

Name: Ryuunosuke "Ryukkun" Kuromaki
Species: Human
Function: None
Altmode: None
Ryukkun is bright and energetic, but a loner; his best friends, besides Sayaka, are his video games. He is very hyperactive and doesn't think things through; without Sayaka's leveling influence, he has a tendency to fly off the handle. Ryukkun is eleven years old and lives with his father, who is a workaholic and is almost never home.

Name: Jimmy Torigian
Species: Human
Function: None
Altmode: None
In the absence of the Cybertron team's medical facilities, Jimmy has been conscripted as their emergency medic. He is fascinated by these alien life forms and wants to learn everything he can about them. Jimmy is the only American in the apartment complex; he is in Japan working under a company that develops prosthetic limbs, and he hopes to someday develop his own prosthetics. He and Optimus Prime share a sort of kindred bond.

Name: Optimus Prime
Species: Transformer (Cybertron)
Function: Squad commander
Altmode: Playstation 2 (blue)
Idealistic, often overeager, and a bit lacking in tact and prudence, Optimus Prime is nevertheless a successful commander and genius strategist when he can be persuaded to calm down and think things through. He depends on his troops to curb his excesses, and trusts them without reservation; this trust in large part is why people around him are willing to put their faith in him.

Name: Pulsar
Species: Transformer (Cybertron)
Function: Tracker
Altmode: Dreamcast
Pulsar is steady and reliable, and her tracking and marksmanship skills are second to none. Her grounded ways often serve as a counterbalance to Optimus Prime's eagerness. She doesn't talk much and can come across as cold, even to her friends and allies. Pulsar has an unfortunate tendency to posture as a "lone wolf" type figure and the other Cybertrons make it their mission to get her to lose her composure and come out of her shell.

Name: Blaster
Species: Transformer (Cybertron)
Function: Engineer/Builder
Altmode: GameCube (purple)
Blaster is a self-described "student of the universe." He views every day and every person he meets as a new learning experience. He is constantly drawing blueprints for outlandish inventions, drawing inspiration from the world around him; he often resents his partner Soundwave's tendency to point out the implausibility of what he comes up with. Blaster rarely gets an opportunity to build anything, but when he does he is never happier.

Name: Soundwave
Species: Transformer (Cybertron)
Function: Programmer/Hacker/Chip developer
Altmode: GameBoy Advance SP (red)
Quick with a joke (often at Blaster's expense) and hyper in the extreme, Soundwave often rubs people the wrong way. He and Blaster don't see eye-to-eye on many things, but they work well together when they have to. Soundwave is alternately fascinated by and disdainful of Earth's technology, and is always tinkering with things he finds, trying to "improve" them. Soundwave enjoys Earthen cartoon shows and often has to be dragged away from them under heavy protest.

Name: Windfall
Species: Transformer (Cybertron)
Function: Warrior
Altmode: Toshiba laptop
Windfall is very old, one of the first Transformers ever built; she began life as a guardian and continues her calling as the most powerful member of Optimus Prime's squad. Her style of speech is very archaic and only Optimus Prime can understand her most of the time. There are times when Windfall can seem haughty and even belittle others' skills, but there is no more noble Cybertron in the galaxy.

Name: Megatron
Species: Transformer (Destron)
Function: Squad commander
Altmode: XBox (Halo edition green)
A shrewd, underhanded son of a gun, Megatron is always quick to recognize opportunity and the first to exploit a weakness in the Cybertrons or in his own crew. He has no shame: he will stoop to any low, cooperate with any being, say or do anything in order to win. He has already beaten Optimus Prime once, and never lets his archenemy forget it.

Name: Widowmaker
Species: Transformer (Destron)
Function: Warrior
Altmode: Playstation 2 (black)
Among Destrons, where treachery is a virtue so long as you don't get caught, Widowmaker is somewhat of a rarity: he is completely loyal to Megatron, trusted almost implicitly. He is often seen as a mere grunt, a brainless follower, and he is content to cultivate that image; he is smart enough, but doubts his own intelligence, and would rather be seen as dumber than smarter than he believes he is. He has a strong, inexplicable attraction to the color pink.

Name: Crane
Species: Transformer (Destron)
Function: Spy/saboteur
Altmode: GameBoy Advance SP (silver)
Crane, a self-described "electronic imp," never passes up a chance to stir up trouble. She thrives on chaos and will even prank fellow Destrons if no Cybertrons or humans are available. Because of this, Megatron and Reflector always make certain she has something to keep her occupied, from missions to captive Cybertrons to crayons. Crane's artwork, in another age, might have been considered avant-garde or even genius, but in war her talents go unrecognized.

Name: Reflector
Species: Transformer (Destron)
Function: Interrogator/medic
Altmode: GameCube (black)
Very few people have ever heard Reflector speak. She communicates through gesture or – if absolutely necessary – through a linkup with Crane, who makes Reflector's desires known only reluctantly. Reflector is a skilled warrior, her fighting style resembling certain Earthen martial arts styles as she targets specific vulnerable areas on her opponent. She fights to cripple, not kill, as her oath as medic transcends her oath as Destron, but often that is a curse on her opponents: Reflector's skill at causing pain defies description.

Name: Armory
Species: Transformer (Destron)
Function: Warrior
Altmode: Apple desktop computer
Armory may or may not be insane. He talks to himself frequently, destroys his surroundings compulsively and often shoots at fellow Destrons – although he has yet to so much as wave a firearm in Megatron's direction. He was also a guardian, much like Windfall, but how he fell from such a height to become what he is now is a mystery, as is how Megatron commands his loyalty. Only Windfall is a match for him on the battlefield.

Episode Guide

Episode 1:
Grounded for once again sneaking out to play video games with Ryukkun, Sayaka is home alone when the doorbell rings; she answers it to find an unmarked package on her doorstep. She opens it to find a Halo-edition Xbox, which comes to life and transforms into a Destron, Megatron! He chases her up and down the apartment complex and finally into Ryukkun’s apartment, where the kids inadvertently revive Megatron’s archrival, Optimus Prime, by putting his core consciousness into Ryukkun’s Playstation 2. Optimus Prime transforms and chases Megatron off, thus saving the day.

Episode 2:
Optimus Prime is disoriented at first, but he calms down enough to relate the story of how he and his squad had been trapped by Megatron and stripped of their bodies, reducing them to data clusters - along with members of Megatron’s own team, who had been inadvertently trapped along with the Cybertrons. He asks the kids’ help in retrieving the rest of his squad, and in return promises to protect them from Megatron. Ryukkun immediately agrees, but Sayaka is hesitant, sure that her parents would kill her if she were found consorting with a living, talking game system! However, Optimus is able to convince her after saving her once again from Megatron and his new minion, Widowmaker, who was revived from a black Playstation 2 stolen from next door. In the scuffle, Megatron dropped a data cluster belonging to Optimus’s squadmate, Pulsar.

Episode 3:
Optimus searches Sayaka’s apartment in vain for a suitable machine to input the data cluster - until Sayaka’s parents come home, and Sayaka stuffs him under her bed. As Sayaka attempts to explain the damaged apartment to her suspicious parents, Optimus Prime slips out of the apartment to find a body for Pulsar. He is accosted by Megatron and Widowmaker and retreats to the first floor, where he finds an old, discarded Dreamcast in the landlady’s flat. As Sayaka searches for him in a panic and Megatron and Widowmaker close in, Optimus Prime reawakens Pulsar. She is disoriented, but has no time to gather her wits as Megatron and Widowmaker pounce.

Meanwhile, Sayaka runs to Ryukkun’s apartment, thinking to find Optimus there. When Ryukkun tells her he doesn’t know where the Cybertron is, the two kids go on a mission to find him… starting at the top floor. Along the way, Ryukkun finds another data cluster and puts it in his pocket. Sayaka is certain that she is going to wind up grounded when all this is over. Finally, the kids make it to the bottom floor just in time to find Pulsar standing over a seriously damaged Optimus Prime. Not recognizing Pulsar, they mistake her for a Destron.

Episode 4:
After being chased up and down the apartment complex, Pulsar finally manages to convince the kids that she is a Cybertron and impress upon them the dire state Optimus Prime is in. Sayaka and Ryukkun decide to take the wounded Cybertron to Jimmy, who is an electronics whiz and the only non-Japanese in the apartment complex. Pulsar wonders if Jimmy can be trusted, but Ryukkun is quick to reassure her. Jimmy lives on the top floor, and the winded kids are forced to take the elevator, which leads to some close calls with other apartment dwellers. Finally, Jimmy is introduced and promises to take good care of Optimus Prime. The kids leave him and Pulsar in the wizard’s hands and return to Ryukkun’s apartment. It is there that Ryukkun shows Sayaka the data cluster and states where he found it. Sayaka, excited, demands that Ryukkun use his GBA to wake up the new Transformer. He does, and the result is Crane, who just happens to be a Destron!

Episode 5:
Crane makes a shambles of half the apartment complex before she is finally captured, and Sayaka and Ryukkun are both grounded for their parts in the fiasco. Ryukkun manages to put Crane in a Tupperware container and hide her in a duffel bag, but during the night she escapes and makes her way back up to the top floor, where Megatron and Widowmaker are waiting in a broom closet. They are both amused by Crane’s new form, as on Cybertron she had been among the largest of Transformers. Meanwhile, as Jimmy works, he and Optimus Prime trade stories and find they share a common bond as aliens in a strange land.

Episode 5:
As the sun rises, Jimmy makes the last adjustments to his patient and Optimus Prime is reawakened, good as new. Overjoyed, Pulsar runs out to find Sayaka and Ryukkun – but on the way, she is ambushed and forced to retreat back to Jimmy's apartment. Optimus, eager to test his repair work, joins Pulsar in a counterassault, helped by Jimmy throwing office supplies. One of his paperclip volleys manages to hit Megatron in a certain spot on the chestplate, sending data clusters flying everywhere. Megatron, Widowmaker, and Crane run around desperately trying to gather them up under fire, but with the arrival of Ryukkun and Sayaka, armed with Silly String (which Megatron is convinced is dangerous, despite Widowmaker's objections), they are forced to retreat with only one precious data cluster in hand.

Episode 6:
While Jimmy works on Pulsar's injuries, Optimus, Ryukkun, and Sayaka examine the data clusters. They have four: two Destron, two Cybertron. Optimus states that the two Cybertron clusters belong to a legendary duo of engineer and programmer, Blaster and Soundwave, who between them could pretty much build anything they wanted, and that with suitable host forms they could be of tremendous aid – perhaps even build something that could send them home? Sayaka looks disturbed at the prospect but quickly shakes off Ryukkun's concern as Optimus relates a tale of romance and intrigue from the early days of the war that showcase the duo's unique skills and puts the kids and Pulsar to sleep.

While the Cybertrons and Jimmy debate where and how to get new forms for the two Cybertrons, Megatron plots to retrieve the data clusters of his two Destrons. Crane suggests simply reprogramming the Cybertron cluster they already have, but Widowmaker doubts Crane has the skill. During the ensuing scuffle, Megatron gets an idea.

Episode 7:
After putting a decisive end to their fight, Megatron explains to Crane and Widowmaker his plan to undermine the Cybertrons by using Blaster and Soundwave to drive a wedge between the pair and break up the team's unity. Crane expresses skepticism and is quickly stifled, but before Megatron can reveal more details, a policeman barges into the janitor's closet they've holed up in and they are forced to make a run for it. As it turns out, the apartment complex is in a dither since the landlady had reported her Dreamcast stolen, and demanded that every man, woman and child be questioned as to its whereabouts. Ryukkun is dragged off to be interrogated as Sayaka and Jimmy work themselves into a lather trying to keep both the Cybertrons and Crane (appearing in Jimmy's apartment) hidden. Obviously pilfering bodies for Blaster and Soundwave from the vast stores of electronics to be found in the apartment complex is out of the question now, which puts a delay on both Optimus's hopes and Megatron's plots.

Episode 8:
The only way now to get bodies for Soundwave and Blaster is to buy them… but how to get the money? Ryukkun and Sayaka take a bike ride into town, Optimus and Pulsar tagging along in backpacks, to look for inspiration. As luck would have it, they run across an independently-owned game store's grand opening, whose main event is a fighting-game tournament. Grand prize: a GameCube and GBA SP, complete with link cable!

Ryukkun, of course, is the first to volunteer, and battles his way to the final round before his opponent causes him to injure his hand. Sayaka becomes his stand-in, but has no confidence in her abilities, so Optimus offers to be the console she plays during the bout, assuring her that losing is an impossibility. The switch is made (under the knowing eye of the proprietor, although she does not reveal herself), and it is only after Sayaka wins that Optimus reveals that he had not interfered at all: the victory was entirely Sayaka's own skill.

Episode 9:
The kids return home, new consoles in tow, and Crane reports to Megatron that Blaster and Soundwave are about to be awakened. Overjoyed, Megatron sets his plan in motion.

Blaster (the GameCube) and Soundwave (the GBA SP) are awakened in the back parking lot of the complex and, much to Optimus Prime's dismay, immediately are at each other's throats. It turns out that they blame each other for the defeat that caused them all to be reduced to data clusters in the first place. Optimus Prime tries to step in, but suddenly Widowmaker arrives on the scene, knocking Blaster and Soundwave down an opened manhole before he, Megatron, and Crane attack. Optimus and Pulsar do their best to protect Sayaka and Ryukkun, but Megatron has their last data cluster in hand and they cannot fire at him for fear of hitting it. Just when all seems lost, Blaster and Soundwave get over themselves, help each other climb out of the sewer, and save the day. They pledge to work together as brothers-in-arms from that point on. (Pulsar reserves judgment.)

Episode 10:
It's the first day back at school for Ryukkun and Sayaka! The kids make the Cybertrons promise to stay out of trouble while they're gone, but Soundwave stows away in Sayaka's backpack and when Blaster realizes what happened, he follows Sayaka to school. Hijinks ensue as Sayaka tries to keep their presence hidden. Meanwhile, Widowmaker and Crane distract Optimus Prime and Pulsar long enough for Megatron to convince Jimmy to surrender the remaining Destron data clusters to him. Sayaka comes home, Blaster and Soundwave in tow, to a welcoming party of five Destrons. Megatron introduces his two new recruits – Reflector, a GameCube, and their secret weapon and greatest warrior: Armory, a PC whose body was stolen from Jimmy's apartment.

Episode 11:
As the Destrons chase Blaster, Soundwave, and Sayaka around the complex, Jimmy realizes the mistake he's made and goes to find the Cybertrons. He finds Ryukkun stuffed in a closet and Optimus Prime and Pulsar grievously injured. Feeling horrendously guilty, he immediately ferries the injured Cybertrons to his apartment for repairs, but without the help of his PC he cannot bring them back online. Meanwhile, Ryukkun searches desperately for Sayaka and the others. He finds them surrounded and rushes to help, swinging at the Destrons with a broom. While he keeps Armory occupied, Blaster and Soundwave renew their attack on the others and Sayaka's thrown rock causes Megatron to drop the final data cluster.

Episode 12:
Only Soundwave's quick thinking saves the data cluster from being shattered on the ground (as Megatron was swinging from a light fixture at the time). He gives it to Sayaka, adjuring her to take it to Jimmy while he, Blaster, and Ryukkun hold off the Destrons. Sayaka is chased up the stairs by Reflector and Crane; Ryukkun tries to follow, but is held back by Armory.

On her way up, Sayaka is stopped by her father. She tries to explain herself, but Crane and Reflector's arrival make it unnecessary. Mr. Kenmura fends them off with his briefcase, yelling at Sayaka to run. She does and delivers the data cluster to Jimmy safe and sound. Jimmy sacrifices his beloved laptop to give this new Cybertron a body, and thus the first-class warrior Windfall is born. Windfall wakes up Optimus Prime and Pulsar, and they, Jimmy, and Sayaka leave together to rejoin the battle.

Episode 13:
After a brief stop to rescue Sayaka's father from Crane and Reflector, Optimus Prime and the others find the Destrons attacking Blaster, Soundwave, and Ryukkun in their final stronghold – the landlady's apartment. Sayaka observes that they are all in deep trouble as the Cybertrons attack. With the addition of the humans and Windfall, the Destrons fight valiantly but are eventually forced into retreat. Optimus Prime orders the Cybertrons to follow, determined to end their long feud once and for all. The Destrons are chased out of the complex, down a side street and onto a highway, where all the Destrons sans Megatron are flung into the sun by a passing car. Megatron then challenges Optimus Prime to a one-on-one duel, and their fight takes them into a nearby park, where Megatron finally falls into a drainage ditch to be carried away to parts unknown, offline by all appearances.

As the Cybertrons gather with their human friends to discuss their victory and how to return home, the camera follows Megatron floating down the drainage ditch into the city… only to be fished out by the mysterious game store owner.
