"I promise I will not fail you," says Beachcomber. "Give me the battery, Sparkplug. I'll be back as soon as I can."

The other Autobots shield Beachcomber with their bodies. The Insecticons do not see him even as he drives by the canyon where they are camped.

Once Beachcomber is away from the disrupter, his strength returns. He checks seismic and magnetic sensors, and wriggles upward. Soon his sensors tell him that another passage lies beyond a pile of rubble. Using a geologist's electronic pick, he quickly cuts through the rock.

Now he finds himself in a small cavern. His infrared sensors show him sparkling gems. Below him is a stream full of strange white fish with no eyes. He would like to stay and appreciate the beauty for a moment, but duty sends him on.
